June 14 No Kings Day Peaceful Protests
Wilmington, Delaware, Part One: I love a parade as long as Trump’s not in it!
As the photographs in the following posts show, on June 14, the message delivered by the protestors here in Delaware to the Trump administration is unequivocal: we stand in solidarity against the authoritarian lawlessness of the MAGA regime and resent its relentless assaults on our liberties. With our signs and voices raised we informed the wannabe King in the White House that“Whatever power you have is based on the consent of the governed,” as Robert Hubbell so elegantly puts it, “And we are withdrawing that consent.” The protestors bearing witness to injustice in Delaware, as is the case in all the other reported 2,100 events nationwide, are engaged in legal acts, exercising their rights as Americans under the rule of law specifically the First Amendment of the Constitution. In response, Trump and his lackeys threaten to deny the people’s rights, even to the extent of portraying these protest events as terrorists acts in an effort to justify the deployment of military troops, another attempt on his part to usurp power based on lies, the essential component in the MAGA prescription for tyranny.
Protestors in Wilmington didn’t let the fear of Trump’s retribution stop them. They showed up with their signs, grateful that it wasn’t pouring rain with thunder and lightning. Ironically, the gloomy atmosphere and the somber light seemed an apt reflection of the gravity of the occasion as we gathered to inform Donald Trump that we will not be complicit in his fascist coup to anoint himself as Monarch and destroy democracy. In America, we do not suffer despots gladly; our King is the rule of law as set forth in the Constitution, not any individual…
It was a huge crowd for Wilmington. Sorry I missed seeing you. Great pics!
