In Newark, Delaware the No Kings Day Protest was more of a march than a parade. The lawn in front of Old College Hall was packed with demonstrators estimated to total as many as 5 to 6,000, the biggest turnout yet in this series of local Indivisible events.. Some of the participants were dressed in “kingly” attire, including crowns and flowing robes as a mocking rebuke to Donald Trump’s declaration of war on Democracy, while the majority of others brandished signs bearing compelling messages critical of Trump’s distain for the rule of law and his cruelty toward our brothers and sisters in the immigrant communities, veterans, senior citizens, and other vulnerable groups of Americans. After the speakers program was completed, the protestors marched around the block in a show of solidarity and support for Democracy and our collective rejection of fascist governance that Trump and his legions of MAGA zealots are attempting to establish in this country. In view of the high level of outrage, a short hymn of invocation seems appropriate before we look at the pictures documenting the scene, so let us raise our voices in unison and sing: “Him, Him, Fuck Him! “
